Artist's works in the collection

Simon’s latest project involves an attempt to remake Andrzej Wajda’s Ashes and Diamonds in the nigerian Nollywood. Simon interprets Wajda’s film from a vantage point that takes into account the last 60 years of political events in Poland, focusing on how their attitudes to communism have split Poles. The artist intends to follow up by filtering the topic through the perception of a completely different culture. A Nigerian version of Ashes and Diamonds would open up a new perspective, acting as a sui generis mirror in which all things Polish would appear exotic.
