Aneta Grzeszykowska

live and work in .

Photographs from the series Negative Book, created between 2012 and 2013 are a result of the artist playing with the medium of photography, and in particular with the reversibility of the relationship between the negative and the print. As was the case with some of her previous series, Grzeszykowska again turns photography inside out, treating it as raw material for editing the visible. The photographs, which show pre-arranged everyday scenes, portraits and holiday photos, are presented as negatives, in which the silhouette of the artist is visible in an unnaturally light, ‘positive’ edition. Grzeszykowska tampered with the usual appearance of the negative employing a performative element: she covered her own body with dark paint.
