For purposes of his Banners (excerpt), the artist interviewed members of Farmers’ Wives’ Association in Osice, his home village. He asked his interviewees about feminism, including their personal opinion of the women’s liberation movement. Far from idealising Polish rural areas, Łagowski remained critical of contemporary feminist movements, which he believes to be focusing on cities only, with no attempt to connect to provincial locations.
