Piotr Uklański

live and work in .

In his works: Untitled (Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word), Untitled (Profondo Rosso) and Untitled (Slowly But Surely), Piotr Uklański revives a number of techniques referring to mid-20th- century art. Thus, the artist continues his strategy consisting in experimenting with seemingly banal, naive and fully exploited forms of representation and expression. The works on display (some under the joint title Neo Avant-Garde) match the artistic revaluations of most recent years, stemming from an exhaustion of avant-garde strategies. They are an attempt to reclaim an area lost to art, albeit under a new set of rules. A journey into this realm, forbidden until most recently, carries a taste of transgression and provocation against rational post-avant-garde tendencies dominant in art for some time.
