The Wave Machine installation comprises two sections: ex- cerpts from Photon, a full-length film, and Wave Machine – the kinetic object. In its structure, Photon resembles God- frey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi. The film has three distinct parts (lectures) rooted in up-to-date scientific knowledge. In semblance to the Sailor, Leto shows the world and man in post-humanist form, as a sum of chemical reactions. Wave Machine, on the other hand, is an object making it easier to consider matter consisting of vibra- tions only – in conformity to a contemporary scientific paradigm suggesting the matter’s undulating and mobile structure. Leto’s object is a modified version of a didactic device used in physics classes. The original unnamed design was developed in the 1950s in laboratories owned by the American company Bell. John N. Shive was the author.
