The image Sentimental was created for an exhibition at the Marlborough Contemporary gallery in London, which took place in the spring of 2013. Abstract forms, reminiscent of the iconography of traditional art, are in fact forms of organic material that the artist sourced from photographs in science magazines and transformed. What often matters to Brzeżańska more than the final result is the selection itself of the material: identifying in her surroundings elements to be processed and individualised.
