The works of Mickiewicz have as their point of reference relations between people and objects as well as the ways in which we remember through the tangible things that surround us and how we modify our identity and emotions living amongst, and sometimes, for, things. The artist applies force to the mundane ready-mades, testing their durability or arranging them into compositions on the verge of experiencing a fall. The work Not Too Far is a stool; its top layer levered up by a tooth- pick. Following the subtle intervention, the object has acquired a surreal air; deprived of its original function, it seems impaired and wounded.
